Diets Everywhere, But Which One Works?

How do you diet intelligently? Meaning how do you find a simple plan that allows you to lose weight naturally and keep it off. If you go in any bookstore and see the absolute tidal wave of diet books, it becomes unclear what we lost as a society, where did our seeming natural ability to regulate our weight go?

Why is it so important now to be thin, and svelte. We know it was not seen as healthy 100 years ago, why the obsession and the marketing to feed it? And it does not help that the government seems to contradict itself at every turn.

Look across the oceans to Europe and Asia, and you see slender people eating all manner of things that would send American dieticians fleeing! But these people who eat rich, wonderful things to their hearts content, are slim, live longer, and ironically even smoke. What are we doing wrong.
