Expanding Role of Hypnotherapy for Healing Changes

Hypnosis, what a reaction the word still elicits from the average person who still knows none of the truths and is still caught up in the myths and misconceptions reinforced by Hollywood B movies, books of fiction and blind assumption. The truth is the word was termed in a book in 1843 by Scottish surgeon, Dr. James Braid, Neurypnology; The Rationale of Nervous Sleep. It appeared that people in a deep hypnotic state were “asleep” and Hypnos is the Greek God of sleep, therefore the terms hypnosis, hypnotism and hypnotist were coined by Dr. Braid. However, the state referred to as the hypnotic state is not sleep at all.

Imagine you have been holding in some bad news, maybe something you said or did and it caused you emotional problems. This internal emotional stress doesn’t just cause thought and emotional issues but lends itself to physical complications. But then you finally had to opportunity to let it out. You “got it off your chest” or “came clean.” Any time any of us had this happen we immediately felt so much better. We were holding in a lot of negative energy and the release was like opening the dam and letting the water flow. But… it’s not always so obvious.
